Timely reminder to check air-con

Whitsunday Times - - LOCAL NEWS -

FIRE-FIGHTERS from the Airlie Beach station were called to an airconditioning fire at a residential propery in Cannonvale around lunchtime yesterday (Wednesday, October 2).

Officer in charge of the Airlie Beach Fire Station Cameron Corneal said tradesmen working nearby were able to assist the owner of the property and extinguish the blaze before fire-fighters arrived.

“We basically ventilated the house and got rid of the smoke,” he said.

Officer Corneal said this was a timely reminder for residents to have their air-conditioning units checked by professionals ahead of the warmer weather.

He also advised people to check and clean their filters after the winter months of no use.
