Posters to Reclaim the Night

Whitsunday Times - - LOCAL NEWS -

LOCAL residents are invited to the Whitsunday Neighbourhood Centre (WNC) next Thursday, October 17, to paint signs and posters for the forthcoming ‘Reclaim the Night’ march in Airlie Beach.

Reclaim the Night is a rally where women and the community stand up and raise awareness about violence. The rally will be held on Friday, October 25 and it is part of a raft of activities run throughout October, which is Sexual Violence Awareness Month (SVAM).

WNC family support worker Sandra Kelly said the poster and sign painting session was a free event that was about encouraging people to create their own signs for display during the march.

“We would like to invite as many community members as possible to participate in the march and this is something they can join with others to do to put their own messages across,” she said.

All materials and afternoon tea will be provided. The painting session will be held in the centre’s Endeavour Room from 1-4.30pm.
