PLAYERS will be dusting off their gear and oiling their bats in anticipation of the 2013/14 Proserpine cricket season which starts this Saturday.

The first game of the season will be held at the Kelsey Creek Sports Complex at 12.30pm.

The club is hoping to field four teams in the competition to ensure all teams see some action each week.

New players are encouraged to join the club and have a bit of fun on game day and spectators are welcome to attend.

Club representative Dale Mengel said there was no age or skill level requirements and the club was always happy to take on first-time players to seasoned cricketers.

The over 40-over games and fixtures usually wrap up by 5.30pm.

There is no annual fee with players only having to contribute $10 for each game they play to cover the ball fees and to help cover the club’s running costs.

All equipment is provided if required and there will be drinks, food and other refreshments available at the clubhouse throughout the day.

For more information, contact club president Craig Brown on 4945 1983 or Dale Mengel on 0410 895 191.
