What do you think about the new Labour Day long weekend in October and what did you do?

Whitsunday Times - - WHITSUNDAY VIEWS -

Sam Dine, Cannonvale: I went to the Girls Night In cocktail event to help raise funds for breast cancer research. It was a fantastic night and I just relaxed for the rest of the long weekend. Wim Van der Pluym, Hamilton Island: I went sailing around the Whitsunday islands on my boat for the long weekend to entertain friends who were visiting from Melbourne. We went fishing and snorkelling, it was great. Jon Lewis, Airlie Beach: I went to Mission Beach with friends and went sky diving for the first time and white water rafting. Sky diving was the best thing I have ever done and it was a great way to spend the long weekend. Helen Holland, Jubilee Pocket: I spent the weekend relaxing and watching the NRL grand final. My husband and I are retired so the public holiday didn't mean much to us but it was a good excuse to get friends over. Olivia Tetzlaff, Airlie Beach: I spent the long weekend in Townsville but in hindsight it was very quiet considering there was a public holiday. I just went to the beach and went shopping for two days. Mark Rees, Cannonvale: I watched the Roosters win the NRL grand final and I was born in Bondi so it was a great game to watch. I think for football supporters who drink, the Labour Day long weekend was perfect timing. David Davison, Woodwark: I took the kids out for a day of tubing at the dam and went fishing on the Monday. I also did a bit of gardening so it was a fantastic long weekend.
