Couple return for dream wedding
FORMER Airlie Beach resident Kate Thornton returned to the Whitsundays to marry Christoffel Snyman in the pavilion at the Peninsula Apartments in Shingley Beach.
A cocktail reception followed at Waterline on Shingley hosting 45 guests.
Kate said many guests travelled from interstate and New Zealand for the wedding, describing the feeling of being surrounded by so many loving family and friends as a major highlight.
“We wanted a really low-key wedding and my parents insisted that we came home for it so they selected the venue and left our family members in charge of taking photos. It was just perfect,” she said.
“Christo’s father Paul read a beautiful scripture which brought a few tears to everyone’s eyes.”
Kate is the daughter of long-term Airlie Beach residents Brad and Leone Bowring.
The happy couple returned home to Brisbane after the wedding and are looking forward to celebrating their honeymoon in Las Vegas next year.
