Mixed Title Khanacross this weekend
MORE than 30 talented drivers from across the state will return to the Whitsundays for the Mixed Title Khanacross Championships this weekend.
The two-day event will see competitors produce some high speed, technical car racing across the bitumen track of the Whitsunday Raceway on Saturday and the dirt track of the Tonker Park Raceway on the Sunday.
Club secretary Kym Hall said nominations for the event closed on Wednesday but welcomed drivers to register their vehicles on the day.
“Spectators will be in for a fun-filled weekend with a laid back atmosphere and [the] passenger rides are a great way for people to get in the front seat and experience the sport first hand with one of many skilled drivers,” she said.
Entry to the raceway is free for spec- tators and passenger hot laps are available for $20 per person.
There will be designated camping areas at Tonka Park for those not wanting to miss any of the action and basic amenities including hot water, showers and toilet facilities will be present on site.
Catering is available for campers who have pre-registered with Whitsunday Sporting Car Club and other food and refreshments will be available for purchase.
Driver weekend passes are available for $100 or single day passes for bitumen entry is $80, dirt entry fee $50 and juniors are half price.
Scrutineering will start at 7.30am with racing to get underway at 9.30am.
