Whitsunday Times - - ON THE WATER -

LAST Wednesday’s Whitsunday Sailing Club twilight race was held in a south-easterly breeze of 15-20 knots with a few gusts well beyond these wind speeds.

Rum Raider, skippered by Scott Millar, finished first, with Overdrive (Rupert King) and Cheetah (Steve Halter), close behind.

The winner on corrected time was Overdrive.

In Division 2, Queensland Marine Services (John Galloway), enjoyed the best start of the fleet and a good battle on the first beat with Twister (Kevin Fogarty) and Treasure VIII (Clay Bauman).

Treasure VIII took the lead at the first mark and slowly extended this position throughout the race.

QMS finished second across the line just ahead of Twister and Sandpiper (Chris Chengody). However, on corrected time the lineup went to Sandpiper first, then QMS and in third place was Wobbly Boot (Craig Piccinelli).

Defiance (Mark Thompson), had a great start in Division 3 and a great tussle with Breakaway (Rob Davis) and Kameruka (Mark and Bob Beale).

At the end of the race, Breakaway managed to beat Kameruka across the line by just three seconds and also took out the race on corrected time.
