Mixed pairs competition underway at Airlie Beach
LAST Tuesday saw Judy Chengody, Doreen Whitehouse and Margo Stanley winners for the day 15-6 against Mable Davy, Noela Whitehead, Jill Spencer and Elaine Hadlow.
Next Tuesday will see the Ladies AGM at 10.30am, followed by lunch and selectors day and all male members are invited to come along and celebrate two very special birthdays as well.
Bowlers are asked to bring along a plate of something to share for lunch.
Play will commence as normal at 1pm.
The Wednesday men's day saw only a few players and the jackpot was not won again, it is now over $400. Winners for the day were Nik Fernbach, Steve Tattam and Ron Spence 30-17.
Wednesday evening Business House Bowls commenced with six teams rolling up for this session of six to eight weeks.
Winners for this week were Charter Yachts Australia and second was Woolworths.

This is a perfect introduction to the game of bowls and the start time is 6.30pm every Wednesday evening so it does not interfere with working hours.
On Saturday the first and second rounds of the mixed pairs club championships was played and all games were very close in round one.
Betty Nicolle and David Dias defeated Jo Howes and Bob McMahon 19-16, Jill Spencer and Nik Fernbach defeated Henny Tattam and Steve Tattam 27-24 and Elaine Hadlow and Kevin Jewell defeated Col Howes and Margo Stanley 1716 (after having to play an extra end to decide the winner).
In the other games Dale Hell and Eric Bottle defeated Sandy Barrile and Rick Williams 27-20.
In the second round played in the afternoon Elaine Hadlow and Kevin Jewell defeated Nik Fernbach and Jill Spencer 24-18 and Dale Hell and Eric Bottle defeated Betty Nicolle and David Dias 24-13.
Sunday social bowls saw a large group of bowlers and winners for the day were Maureen Barnard, Henny Tattam and Mae Secomb who defeated M Barnard, Richard Whitehouse and Nik Fernbach 16-8.
In the other games Herb Secomb, Keith Beetham and Jo Howes defeated Wally Gray, Doreen Whitehouse and Steve Tattam 14-8 and Jill Spencer and Margo Stanley defeated Ken Ryder and Andrew Bell.
Barefoot Bowls continues every Friday evening from 6pm and cost $15 per person for bowls and a sausage sizzle, with bookings to be made to contact 0488 754 184.
A mixed pairs competition is starting on Thursday, October 31 at 6.30pm and anyone after more information should contact Kevin Jewell on 4945 3998.
The Cruise Carnival sponsored by Cruise Whitsunday will be held on Saturday, November 9.
This is a mixed triples carnival so players need to get their teams together and contact carnival secretary Alison Holmes on 4946 1219.
There are some fabulous prizes to be won including trips to the reef and islands.
On Sunday, October 20 at 9am the first round of the mixed fours club championships will be played between Betty Nicolle, Jill Spencer, David Dias and Bob McMahon and Col Howes, Steve Tattam, Jo Howes and Margo Stanley.
Kevin Jewell's team got the bye and will play the winners of the morning game in the afternoon.
