Big weekend of bowls ahead
IN THE second semi-final of the consistency singles played on Wednesday Joan McGrath defeated Heather Brown 118-92.
The final of the competition will be played between McGrath and Maree Daffara (marker Heather Brown) on Wednesday, October 23.
In social play Trudy Hanne, Lill Burke and Heather Patullo defeated Norma Daniels, Jo Peasley and Dot Hinschen 24-23 and Dell McCormack, Joyce Patullo and Barbara Dammash defeated Fran Porter, Arthur Williams and Regina Aquilina (visitor from Bribie Island) 25-23.
Reminder to all that annual subscriptions are now due.
Just over half of our members are now financial and in order to have a vote at the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, November 27, members need to be financial.
There is a trivia night on Saturday, October 19 and bookings are required for catering purposes.
Life member Pam Selmes is sponsoring a day on Wednesday, October 30 and the Past President’s will be having their day on Wednesday, November 6.
A cooling breeze and cloud cover moderated conditions for Sunday’s play.
It was a big day of competition with both semi-finals of the mixed fours played and one of the semi-finals for the mixed triples. In the fours Philip Brown, Heather Patullo, Heather Brown and Wayne Handley defeated Jeanette Calway, Vince Olsen, Maree Daffara and David Cooke 25-14 and Janet Mortimer, Fran Porter, John Henderson and Ross Reville defeated Matthew Camm, Gail Camm, Dot Hinschen and Barry Saroglia 18-17.
This game needed to go into an extra end when the scores were drawn at 17 all at the end of the 21st end.
In the mixed triples Martin Corr, Joan McGrath and Shane Spann defeated Kevin Duell, Lois Read and Rob Taylor 24-4.
In social play Trudy Hanne, Joy Jeffries, Scott Kinnear and Barry Zillmann defeated John Lahney, Darrell Patullo, Reg Russell and Kevin Thorogood 25-13.
The Sunday draw came out as the neatest card and this was won by Rob Taylor’s team.
