Whitsunday Times - - SPORT -

SENIOR social tennis groups on Tuesday afternoon and evening, Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon were all well attended over the last week.

The club was thrilled to see so many people out playing and offered a big welcome to the new faces on Thursday evening and a big thank you to Tad Nowicki for looking after them. Saturday afternoon played host to some newcomers and made them feel right at home. Mention must be made of the sportsmanship that is part of senior social tennis and a wonderful example to the junior players.

Junior social tennis kicked of this week and a few of the youngsters were a bit rusty after their holiday break but were soon back in the swing of things.

Cardio tennis was a little light on for all sessions and new players are encouraged to come on down on either Tuesday morning or Tuesday evening, Thursday evening or Friday morning.

It is similar to a gym workout outside and tennis experience is not needed. Coaching pupils of the week were Tyler Huson, Byron Ward and Manahi Ball, these three young people really worked as a team on Friday morning.

The club is hosting a Halloween doubles round robin on Friday, October 25 at 5.15pm and players can register by calling Jenny Kirkman on 0418 866 808.
