Airlie gets ready to rock

Whitsunday Times - - LOCAL NEWS -

EXCITEMENT is building for the Airlie Beach Music Festival, which is now less than three weeks away.

This week, organisers got together with event partners and representatives from the 16 venues where the festival will take place to finalise plans.

Whitsunday musician and festival organiser Kieran McCarthy said this was an enormously exciting time “and we’re confident it’s going to be a huge success”.

“It’s going to be a super weekend – the line-up is second-to-none and for those who haven’t been to Airlie Beach before, it’s a great chance to come and experience the town,” he said.

Fellow organiser Gavin “Butto” Butlin admitted that having 74 bands was ambitious to say the least, “but big is beautiful we reckon,” he said.

Big names on the line-up include the Hoodoo Gurus, Diesel, Mental as Anything and Kasey Chambers.

Mr McCarthy said with all the best acts spread evenly throughout the three-day event, full festival tickets were “really good value”.

Tickets to the festival cost $245(three-day pass), $195 (two-day pass) and $115 (day ticket). For more information visit www.airliebeachmusicfesti
