Mag­nums voted best back­pack­ers

AIR­LIE Beach favourites Mag­nums Back­pack­ers took out the award for best Back­pack­ers Ac­co­mo­da­tion at the Whit­sun­day Tourism Awards hosted by the Whit­sun­day Sail­ing Club on Satur­day night.

Op­er­a­tions and Mar­ket­ing Man­ager El­iz­a­beth Hack­ett said that Mag­nums was the orig­i­nal back­pack­ers in Air­lie Beach and that they un­der­stood the im­por­tance of car­ry­ing on that tra­di­tion.

“To win this award was a great ac­knowl­edge­ment of the job be­ing done by the team. It takes a great team to build a dream,” she said.

“Mag­nums Back­pack­ers con­tinue to be in very good hands with many long-term em­ploy­ees.

Mag­nums, the Whit­sun­days orig­i­nal back­pack­ers is a unique prop­erty pas­sion­ately op­er­ated by a group of highly mo­ti­vated and ed­u­cated lo­cals.

They strive to de­liver their guests a piece of the Whit­sun­days at its best and utilise the lat­est in­for­ma­tion tech­nol­ogy along­side a ded­i­cated mar­ket­ing and ser­vice pro­to­col team.

It is a pur­pose-built back­packer re­sort in a rain­for­est set­ting as well as be­ing a li­censed travel agent with a di­verse range of prod­ucts and com­pet­i­tive prices.

They of­fer air-con­di­tioned pri­vate rooms and cabin style share ac­com­mo­da­tion It was first es­tab­lished in 1970 as the Whit­sun­day Vil­lage Re­sort be­fore be­ing pur­chased by Queens­land Re­sorts in 1988 and re­named Mag­nums. Mag- nums can ac­com­mo­date ap­prox­i­mately 360 guests in a com­pet­i­tive range of ac­com­mo­da­tion op­tions which also in­cor­po­rate re­cre­ational and kitchen ar­eas.
