Fun events on the horizon for sailors
SAILORS from the Whitsunday Sailing Club (WSC) have plenty to look forward to with the Swim, Swim, Swim, Ladies Skippers Series to be held this weekend.
WSC sailing development officer Tim Parker said the series was set to attract some excellent skippers including past winners Tania Watson on Twister and Kathryn Galloway, who will be sailing on the former 007, now called Queensland Marine Services. The series will start with a race on Saturday at 11am. This race will take lady skippers and their crews around some of the Whitsunday islands before returning to finish in Airlie Beach.
On Sunday, there will be two races held in Pioneer Bay around laid marks.
Entry forms are available at the reception of the sailing club.
Meanwhile, three WSC boats joined in the club’s first weekend cruise last Saturday, sailing from Airlie Beach to East Bay.
Janner II and Skytrim were judged equal winners for their sailing performance.
Another cruise is planned for Saturday, November 16 and all yachties are welcome to join in. The cruise will include an overnight stop to be chosen on the day.
