Bowlers busy at home and in Mackay
LAST Tuesday was a little down on numbers due to players being in Mackay for the invitational four's carnival at Northern Beaches.
At this stage of the year, most competitions are finished and social bowls is the name of the game. Winners for the day were Di Dobbins, Judy Chengody and Jo Howes who defeated Mable Davy, Tess Walker and Jill Spencer 13-8.
The ladies who played in Mackay, won two out of their five games.
On Wednesday the $400 jack- pot brought the men out to play as they had a great roll up and winners for the day were Herb Secomb, Jeff Newman and Eric Bottle with 17 points while the jackpot was won by David Zimmerman.
Also played on that day was the final of the ladies B singles and the winner was Dale Hell who defeated Henny Tattam 27-7.
Sunday social bowls was well down on numbers but winners for the day were Mae Secomb, M Green and Ken Ryder who defeated Maureen Barnard, Dom Sposato and Ray Green 14-9.
Sunday morning saw the first round of the mixed four's played and winners were Betty Nicolle, Jill Spencer, David Dias and Bob McMahon who defeated Col Howes, Steve Tattam, Jo Howes and Margo Stanley 29-16.
In the afternoon the final was held and winners were Rick Williams, Elaine Hadlow, Mann Isgro and Kevin Jewell who defeated Betty Nicolle, Jill Spencer, David Dias and Bob McMahon 21-14.
Business house bowlers continue to enjoy their games and currently the leaders are Charter Yachts Australia, Porters and Whitsunday Transit all on six points.
This is a great introduction to the game of bowls and anyone interested in coming along should be at the club by 6.15pm at the latest every Wednesday evening.
Coming up is the Whitsunday Cruise Carnival sponsored by Cruise Whitsunday on Saturday, November 9 from 8.30am.
