Showjumping event is on this weekend
THE Whitsunday Equestrian Group (WEG) will be hosting two fantastic days of showjumping at the Cannonvalley Pony Club grounds located at Turner Road, Riordanvale this weekend.
WEG is expecting a great turn out of local and visiting riders from as far north as Townsville, as far south as Sarina and inland to Moranbah
WEG secretary Tracey Davies said this was the clubs third competition for the year and as the wet season approaches riders will be making the best of what is left of the competition season and fine weather before the rain sets in.
The group recently hosted a dressage and showjumping clinic with accredited instructor Shane Davidson.
Davies said the club was fortunate to secure such a highly regarded coach to visit North Queensland.
Shane and his wife Mattea own and operate Davidson Equestrian located in Toowoomba and Shane and his horse Lulu were selected for the Australian team to compete at the Oceania Championships where the Australian team won.
The couple have also been selected for the Rio 2016 jumping squad.
Local riders are looking forward to the challenge set by visiting riders this weekend using the skills they have learnt from clinics with Davidson and EA instructor Evan Parker who also visits the area once a month for jump schools.
WEG thanked Cannonvalley Pony Club for their continued support and use of their grounds.
