IMPRESSIVE performances in the Mackay and district rugby league competition has seen four Proserpine Brahmans be selected for the Mackay Cutters under-18s squad.

Kieran Anderson, Kade Breen, Tyler Boyd, Byron Taylor and Harrison Wecker have been selected in the squad which serves as a feeder team to the Mackay Cutters senior team, who won the 2013 Queensland Intrust Super Cup competition.

The local players were announced as members of the Absolute Enterprise summer training squads in preparation for the 2014 Cyril Connell and Mal Meninga Cup seasons. Large squads have been named in both the under-16 and 18 age groups with both squads being tested prior to Christmas.

On return it is expected that final squad numbers will be around 25 players.

In other league news the Proserpine Rugby League Football Club Inc. Annual General Meeting will be held at the League Clubhouse at Les Stagg Oval on Thursday, October 31 at 6pm. Club president Mick Malone said that it would be an opportunity for anyone who wished to have their say in the future of rugby league in the Whitsundays to stand up and be counted.

“This is your chance to say how you wish to see rugby league and the direction that should be taken to ensure the future of rugby league in the area,” he said.

“We need new blood in the club along with new ideas and the only bad idea is the one that is not put forward for discussion.”
