11 fines but no conviction
A PROSERPINE man was not convicted on any of the 11 charges put before the Proserpine Magistrate’s Court on Monday but was fined a total of $2420.
Jarryd Craig Prebble was before the court facing three counts of stealing, wilful damage, four counts of breaching bail conditions, trespassing and possessing drug-related utensils or pipes.
On August 19 at 9.15pm, Prebble entered a fitness venue on Chapman Street in Proserpine via a security scan system.
A member of the gym left her purse and mobile phone on a table with her child while she assisted her partner who was cleaning the gym.
Prebble took the items and was arrested the following day.
In a separate incident, Prebble stole $325 from a register at the Metropole Hotel at 8.30pm on August 17, and returned the following day taking a cask of vodka from the hotel’s drive-through service.
On August 21, Prebble breached bail by entering the Proserpine town area. He was arrested by police in front of the Prince of Wales Hotel at 12.20pm.
On August 22, he was caught trespassing at the Proserpine Mill.
The 20-year-old was also charged with possession of a water pipe and another breach of bail.
On September 28 at 8.59pm, Prebble was charged with wilful damage after punching the side of a bus in Cannonvale.
Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist said Prebble needed “a monumental shift in your attitude” but took into account his age and application to the Australian Defence Force when handing down the sentence.
Prebble was also ordered to pay a total of $481.71 in restitution for the offences.
