Pink ribbons to raise awareness

Whitsunday Times - - COMMUNITY NEWS -

THIS year’s Proserpine Library fundraiser for Pink Ribbon Day took on a special importance after the recent diagnosis of one staff member with breast cancer.

The library’s fourth annual Pink Ribbon Day barbecue was held outside the library on Monday and raised money for all women’s cancer.

Nadine Donadelli was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and the library’s team leader Robyn Batman said it made their fundraising efforts more special.

“It’s really brought home the issue for us this year knowing that our friend and co-worker had been recently diagnosed and it really is such a worthy cause. We had lots of people come by and buy a sausage sandwich or just donate some money to the cause,” she said.

“We raised $230 throughout the day and want to thank everyone who supported us.”
