A high in­ten­sity work­out for all fit­ness lev­els in Can­non­vale

THE sport of CrossFit has ex­ploded through­out the world as a highly ef­fec­tive and fun work out that de­liv­ers fast re­sults. Lo­cals look­ing for this kind of dy­namic train­ing can find it at Fit in the Whit in Can­non­vale.

Shane Ren­shall and Ben Cro­ker, who re­cently re­lo­cated from Mackay to open their busi­ness which spe­cialises in CrossFit and CrossFit gym­nas­tic train­ing are invit­ing ev­ery­one, of all fit­ness lev­els, down to their Garema Drive ad­dress.

Mr Ren­shall said he iden­ti­fied with the strong com­mu­nity feel of the Whit­sun­days and wanted to bring a spa­cious well-equipped fa­cil­ity that could cater to in­di­vid­ual needs.

“The good thing about hav­ing two coaches in ev­ery ses­sion is that we can cater for the elite per­son to the be­gin­ner and ev­ery move­ment and ev­ery work­out is scaled to that per­son,” he said.

“CrossFit work­outs are timed and as a re­sult are ex­tremely com­pet­i­tive but the per­son that fin­ishes last is al­ways the most en­cour­aged which is why peo­ple en­dure it and achieve such great re­sults.”

CrossFit ses­sions are con­ducted over 60 min­utes and in­clude an in­tro­duc­tion for new mem­bers be­fore coaches pro­vide a step-by-step pro­gram out­lin­ing the ses­sion’s mo­bil­ity, warm-up, work­out struc­ture and stretch­ing se­quence.

All move­ments are demon­strated to mem­bers and the work­outs fo­cus on a par­tic­u­lar area of gym­nas­tic skills, strength build­ing or meta­bolic con­di­tion­ing.

Mr Crocker lost his fa­ther four years ago and said that as he strug­gled with de­pres­sion, he stopped play­ing sport and gained weight. “A friend then in­vited me to at­tend a CrossFit ses­sion and I was ad­dicted to the com­pet­i­tive­ness of it and it gave me a drive for life again,” he said.

Fit in the Whit holds classes from Mon­day to Fri­day at 6am, 7am, 9.30am, 12pm, 5.30pm and 6.30pm and on Satur­day at 7.30am and 8.30am.
