School choirs excel at eisteddfod
The Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre played host to the Proserpine State School choirs this week for the 67th Mackay Eisteddfod.
The highly respected judges awarded the year 2 choir gold for their renditions of the amusing My Dad Snores and harmonious Blue Moon, Do You Wanna Dance? and A Wallaby in My Garden.
The year 3 choir won silver with their production of Child Song.
The most victorious were the year 4/5 choir, with its thirty-five members, which won gold as well as the Adjudicator’s Choice Trophy for The Copycat Rag and Light a Candle.
Proserpine State School singing teacher Elspeth Scotford said all choirs did a wonderful job and gave up their own personal time to rehearse.
“They sang very well and were great ambassadors for the school and community,” she said.
