Close racing among club’s lady skippers
JUST one point separated the leading ladies in the Whitsunday Sailing Club’s Swim Swim Swim Lady Skippers Series last weekend.
Nikki Abbot ( Riff Raff), took out the series’ monohull division by just one point ahead of Tania Watson on Twister and closely followed by Megan Wallis on Reignition, in third place.
In the multihulls, the overall winner was Dalwyn McErlane ( Zippy), also followed closely by Katherine Bowers ( Quickskips).
In ideal sailing conditions on Saturday, the multihull and monohull fleets set off for a race around White Rock, near Shute Harbour, then around the Molle group to finish at Airlie Beach.
First to finish was Quickskips with Reignition just eight minutes behind.
On corrected time, Quickskips won the multihull division and Riff Raff won the monohull division.
There were similar battles on the second day with Reignition taking line honours in both races ahead of Quickskips and Twister.
In the first race Zippy won the multihull division with Riff Raff again winning the monohull division from Twister.
In the second race, Reignition was the monohull winner on corrected time by one-and-a-half minutes and Zippy was named the winner of the multihulls.
