Close rac­ing among club’s lady skip­pers

JUST one point sep­a­rated the lead­ing ladies in the Whit­sun­day Sail­ing Club’s Swim Swim Swim Lady Skip­pers Se­ries last weekend.

Nikki Ab­bot ( Riff Raff), took out the se­ries’ mono­hull di­vi­sion by just one point ahead of Ta­nia Wat­son on Twister and closely fol­lowed by Me­gan Wal­lis on Reig­ni­tion, in third place.

In the mul­ti­hulls, the over­all win­ner was Dal­wyn McEr­lane ( Zippy), also fol­lowed closely by Kather­ine Bow­ers ( Quick­skips).

In ideal sail­ing con­di­tions on Satur­day, the mul­ti­hull and mono­hull fleets set off for a race around White Rock, near Shute Har­bour, then around the Molle group to fin­ish at Air­lie Beach.

First to fin­ish was Quick­skips with Reig­ni­tion just eight min­utes be­hind.

On cor­rected time, Quick­skips won the mul­ti­hull di­vi­sion and Riff Raff won the mono­hull di­vi­sion.

There were sim­i­lar bat­tles on the sec­ond day with Reig­ni­tion tak­ing line hon­ours in both races ahead of Quick­skips and Twister.

In the first race Zippy won the mul­ti­hull di­vi­sion with Riff Raff again win­ning the mono­hull di­vi­sion from Twister.

In the sec­ond race, Reig­ni­tion was the mono­hull win­ner on cor­rected time by one-and-a-half min­utes and Zippy was named the win­ner of the mul­ti­hulls.
