THE fi­nal of the con­sis­tency sin­gles for 2013 was played on Wed­nes­day where Joan McGrath 123 mi­nus 10 de­feated Ma­ree Daf­fara 87.

In so­cial play Fran Porter, Janet Mor­timer, Joyce Pat­ullo and Joy Jef­fries de­feated Trudy Hanne, Cathy Holmes, Flo O’Han­lon and Bar­bara Dam­mash 21-15 and Norma Daniels, Elaine White (vis­i­tor from Gymea), Arthur Wil­liams and Heather Pat­ullo de­feated Car­lie Al­bert­son, John Lah­ney, Pam Selmes and Gail Camm 18-14.

Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 30 is Pam Selmes’ Life Mem­ber Day.

All are wel­come to come along and have a great af­ter­noon of bowls.

Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 6 is Past Pres­i­dent’s Day.

All of the past pres­i­dents have con­trib­uted such a lot to the life of the club and this is a day when the club gets to show their ap­pre­ci­a­tion of their past and con­tin­ued ef­forts.

There have been a cou­ple of changes of dates.

Pre­sen­ta­tion Day and Pres­i­dent Ma­ree Daf­fara’s Tro­phy Day has been moved to Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 27 and the AGM will now be held on Wed­nes­day, De­cem­ber 4 along with break-up day.

The two bowls triples team play­ing at Mackay Club on Satur­day were nar­rowly de­feated by City in the Cham­pion of Cham­pi­ons.

The game was very close all the way along and they were only beaten on the last bowl.

At Proser­pine there were three com­pe­ti­tion games played.

In the mixed sin­gles there was a great semi-fi­nal game with Wayne Han­d­ley de­feat­ing Heather Brown 25-18.

In the mixed pairs Joan McGrath and Shane Spann de­feated Arthur Wil­liams and Flo O’Han­lon 30-10 and Barry Saroglia and Dot Hin­schen de­feated Matthew and Gail Camm 25-11.

In so­cial play Janet Mor­timer, Trudy Hanne, Pam Selmes and Rob Tay­lor de­feated John Lah­ney, Noelie Dibben and Joy Jef­fries 1813 and Jeanette Cal­way and John Hen­der­son de­feated Fran Porter and Barry Zill­mann 17-16.

The Sun­day tro­phy was won by Gail Matthew Camm.

Matthew Camm and Dale Haack will be play­ing in the Cham­pion of Cham­pion B pairs at Pi­o­neer Val­ley on Satur­day, Novem­ber 2.

Com­pe­ti­tion draw for Sun­day, Novem­ber 3 is the sec­ond semi-fi­nal of the mixed sin­gles with Dean Love­lock play­ing Ma­ree Daf­fara, marker Heather Brown.

Mixed pairs (sub­ject to Cham­pion of Cham­pi­ons) will see Dale Haack and Joy Jef­fries play Dot Hin­schen and Barry Saroglia.

Those who played on the green on Sun­day would have no­ticed the light dust­ing of fer­til­izer on the green.

This rep­re­sented many hours of work.

The club thanked Sandy Daf­fara, Kevin Thoro­good, Ross Reville and Wayne Han­d­ley who ap­plied it on Thurs­day and Fri­day and have spent so much time wa­ter­ing this in.

The Val and Jean De Boni Me­mo­rial Day on Satur­day, Novem­ber 9 is a mixed fours com­pe­ti­tion of three games on the Satur­day.

Then Satur­day, Novem­ber 16 is Dick Todd Me­mo­rial Day, also a fours com­pe­ti­tion.

Sun­day, Novem­ber 17 is the state wide come and try day for new­com­ers to come and see what it is all about.

FAIR PLAY: Arthur Wil­liams, Joan McGrath, Flo O'Han­lon and Shane Spann played some great bowls while com­pet­ing in the mixed pairs semi fi­nal at the Proser­pine Bowls Club on Sun­day af­ter­noon.
