Great crowds at Christmas carols

FAMILIES from right across the Whitsundays got into the festive spirit with hundreds turning out for the Rotary Club of Airlie Beach’s Christmas Carols at the Whitsunday PCYC on Sunday.

The traditional Carols on the Beach event was moved from the Airlie foreshore to the PCYC due to weather and around 700 residents enjoyed a great night of everyone’s favourite Christmas songs.

Students from the Cannonvale State School made up the choir and there were plenty of proud parents in the audience as the kids belted out traditional favourites and some more modern Aussie carols.

Children of all ages had a great time at the event with a number of fantastic entries in the Christmasthemed dress-up competition and a special visit from Santa among the highlights of the night.

Rotary thanked all the local businesses who had supported the event, including major supporters the Airlie Beach Music Centre.
