Tennis season comes to a close
TENNIS juniors in Proserpine have completed their 2013 season of fixtures with club championships hotly contested throughout November.
Sibling rivalry took centre stage throughout the competition and particularly in division three when parents, Troy and Diana Hinschen braced themselves for the clash between their children, Emily and Max for first and second place.
In the end, tenacious Emily prevailed over her brother, winning division three, with Max the runner-up.
Division two again provided a source of sibling rivalry between the Powell sisters, Kasey and Tyler, in one of the earlier matches, but Kasey claimed the top prize and Georgia Reid was the runner-up.
In division one the Lane brothers, Cooper and Jayden faced off against each other in an earlier match, but it was Cooper who claimed the title with Callam Ogilvie-Alcock the runner-up.
The 2013 sportsmanship and improvement awards were given to Amy Hungerford and Jayden Cooper.
Many thanks goes to Kelli Reid for her dedication in running the junior fixtures for the past two years.
The club is pleased to announce that there will be a new head coach in 2014 and a new range of programmes will be offered for players of all ages and levels.
A reminder that the AGM will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 7pm.
