Lawn’s team takes out tennis competition
THE final of the Proserpine social tennis doubles competition was held last Thursday night.
Howard Lawn’s team finished as the winners for 2014, with his team of Wayne McHugh, Josh Dobe, Trent Murray, Chris Brett, Elspeth Scotford, Adam Skaife and Jackie Mitchell taking bragging rights for 2013.
Gary Scotford subbed for Wayne McHugh and Keith Jeppesen subbed for Josh Dobe on the night.
The defeated team was Gavin Milne, Matt Bluck, Aaron Regan, Alan Trinder, Keith Forknall, Cameron Bennett, Tiegan Hodges and Todd Marshall.
Glen Botes subbed for Gavin Milne, Michael Sunderland for Matt Bluck and Yoko Stimson for Tiegan Hodges.
The final score was Howard Lawn’s team 82 to Gavin Milne’s 53.
Howard Lawns team went all season undefeated which hasn’t happened in the last few years.
Elspeth Scotford continued her winning run after her team finished in first in eight of the last ten seasons.
It was a great night with many players who didn’t compete still coming along in support and watching the celebrations that went well into the night.
There is an afternoon social doubles competition this Saturday starting at 2.30pm at the Proserpine Tennis Club.
