Student to share the joy with local youth
MANY people share the joy of giving at Christmas but 10year-old Layla Clements has made it her mission to raise funds to buy Christmas gifts for children registered with the Whitsunday Neighbourhood Centre.
Layla has placed Christmasthemed fundraising tins at Buck’s Seafood, Cannonvale News and Casket Agency and Cellarbrations Whitsunday Cellars in the Whitsunday Shopping Centre and at Harts Pizzas in Cannonvale.
To date, Layla has raised $250 but is hoping to reach her goal of $500 before Christmas.
“I love the feeling of waking up on Christmas day to see presents under my Christmas tree and I don’t think anyone should miss out on that feeling,” she said.
Peita Rollings from the Whitsunday Neighbourhood Centre said there were 15 children aged between 10 and 15years-old registered with the centre who would benefit from Layla’s gifts.
