Stu­dents im­press at coloured belt grad­ing

TAEK­WONDO

A TO­TAL of 54 stu­dents from both the Can­non­vale and Proser­pine taek­wondo clubs were as­sessed for their next belt level at the Whit­sun­day Taek­wondo Oh Do Kwan Gup coloured belt grad­ing on Satur­day.

There were 22 Lit­tle Tigers stu­dents aged 4 to 7, 28 ju­niors aged 7 to 12 and four se­niors aged 13 and over with all stu­dents suc­cess­fully pass­ing and ad­vanc­ing to their next level or Gup.

The grad­ing was con­ducted by head in­struc­tor and ex­am­iner Vicky Gil­lam who is a fourth Dan black belt and black belt in­struc­tors Jim Hodges, Jar­rad Arthur and Bowie Hodges.

All of the stu­dents have worked ex­tremely hard to get to this stage in their train­ing and there were some no­table achieve­ments on the day.

From the lit­tle tigers there was a di­rect pro­mo­tion to ju­niors ninth Gup (yel­low belt - 1 stripe) for Si­enna Sobott, Katarna Robin­son, Lilly Corrie, Zoltan Holeczy, Jack Sobott and Josh Jarvis.

Dou­ble pro­mo­tions for tigers went to Madi­son Tay­lor, Josh Krendl, Axel Scud­der, Cal­lum Ed­mond­son and Tane Den­ni­son with Nate Ni­chols achiev­ing a triple pro­mo­tion.

The best grad­ing awards were pre­sented to white tigers Josh Krend, yel­low tigers Nate Ni­chols, ju­nior belts Sam Cre­tan and se­nior belts Gareth O’Sheehy.
