EMERGENCY services attended a single vehicle traffic crash on Shute Harbour Road in Flametree last Wednesday night. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was a 43-year-old Sunshine Coast man who was transported by QAS to the Proserpine Hospital and later airlifted to the Townsville Hospital in a serious condition. Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing and police have not ruled out alcohol or drugs being a possible contributing factor. Acting Senior Sergeant and Officer in Charge of Whitsunday Police Nathan Blain said the man was lucky to be alive and it was a timely reminder for all road users to remain vigilant on the roads. He said road traffic was expected to increase on all roads during the festive season.
