Proserpine sculptor on the small screen
PROSERPINE sculptor Adriaan Vanderlugt capped off an exciting year by featuring on a television show on Sunday evening on TV4ME.
Graeme Stevenson, the producer of the series Colour in Your Life, invited Mr Vanderlugt to be interviewed for a sculpture episode focusing on carving wood and stone.
This year he was involved in preparations for four public art exhibitions, which have all happened in recent months.
In early September, Strand Ephemera was an exhibition on the beach at the Strand in Townsville and 31 sculptures were featured.
Then on September 6, the crew of Possum Magic the Musical launched the five wildlife sculptures commissioned for the outside of the Mackay Entertainment Centre.
The sculptures were made from camphor laurel from a dying tree at the Greenmount Homestead in Walkerston.
Then, down on the beach at Currumbin on the Gold Coast, the SWELL Sculpture Festival featured 53 sculptures by Australian and international artists and was seen by 200,000 visitors.
At the end of October, his sculpture Fish Scales was curated into Art with Altitude, a weekend Art Festival at Skygate at the Brisbane Airport.
The television shoot happened only just a few weeks ago and focuses on demonstrations, with some very informative banter with the presenter, Graeme Stevenson.
