Local sister ships battle it out in twilight race

Whitsunday Times - - ON THE WATER -

THREE sister ships battled for their division in last Wednesday’s Whitsunday Sailing Club twilight race, which was the second last for the year.

Synchronicity (Tom Parker), Lorna Rose Too (Peter Mitchelson) and Kameruka (Mark and Bob Beale) were ideally suited to the eightknot northerly breeze and slight chop.

These three Division 3 competitors were among an 18yacht fleet, venturing out for the weekly race.

Spirit (Jason Gard), from the Cook Islands Yacht Squadron, was the only multihull sailing in Division 1.

Tulip (Bernie van’t Hof), hit the start line at full pace in Di- vision 2. Another Fiasco (Damian Suckling), revelled in the conditions, as did Queensland Marine Services (John Galloway), Twister (Kevin Fogarty) and Esoteric (Col Forster), who all sailed well.

At the end of the race, Another Fiasco crossed the line in second place but took first place on corrected time.

Synchronicity was a little too eager at the start of the Division 3 race, crossing the line early and having to return and re-start.

Serendipity (Roger Boast), sailed a good race but in the end it was Kameruka who was clearly in front on corrected time.
