Car swept away
THE driver of a car that travelled through floodwaters on the Bruce Highway last Thursday evening managed to escape without injury through the passenger window before his vehicle was swept away. Officer in Charge of the Proserpine station Acting Sergeant Timothy Farran said the driver hit the water at the speed limit and aquaplaned off the road.
Meanwhile on the same evening a gold Ford was found half-submerged on Tyree Road, Strathdickie. The occupants had already left the scene and were believed to have walked out of knee-deep water.
