Actor makes Whitsundays his home
PASSIONATE about the performing arts, John Yerma has gone from SBS TV series Housos to selling houses right here in the Whitsundays.
John has spent most of his adult life in Queensland, having moved with his parents from the south of France to Australia when he was just a boy.
He has appeared in television commercials and programs like Housos (from the creator of Fat Pizza) to a speaking role in kid’s favourite movie, Happy Feet.
He has been visiting the Whitsundays regularly since the 1980’s and is excited to have made the decision to settle here permanently.
Since moving to the Whitsundays in late October, he has started working as a sales agent at Ray White Whitsunday and joined local CABLE theatre group.
“I’ve always been in love with the Whitsundays.
Since selling my investment here years ago, I’ve been visit- ing the Whitsundays twice a year and finally it dawned on me… just move there.”
He has since bought property here again and is looking forward to sinking his teeth into his role at Ray White.
What do you do to chill out?
I love the restaurants and bars here. I love mixing with local and visitors, and I really love being involved in community projects.
Best place to eat in the Whitsundays?
I haven’t really explored enough yet. Banjo’s is great because it’s walking distance to home and the meals and prices are great.
Last movie you saw in the cinema?
Happy Feet! I can’t recall the last movie I saw, and I’ve got so many favourite movies. My favourite TV show at the moment is Two Broke Girls.
What do you do for work?
I’ve just started as a sales agent with the awesome team
at Ray White Whitsunday.
Plans for the next 12 months?
I used to sail in the Whitsundays in the 80’s and I want to rekindle that love affair. I also want to continue learning some of my instruments, and of course sell lots of properties.
Any last words?
Live long, look good and feel great.
