Wolfmother to draw a crowd at Magnums
FOLLOWING a string of sold out shows on the east coast of Australia, popular rock band Wolfmother is heading to Airlie’s Magnums Hotel to showcase mind-melting new material and rock out some of their classics tomorrow (Friday, February 7).
Magnums manager Jason Hickmott said this was likely to be a huge event.
“We are expecting to sell out with over 600 people here,” he said.
“Ticket sales are the strongest we have seen for a touring act so far, [so] anyone wanting to attend this one-time show is urged to purchase [as soon as possible] to avoid disappointment.”
Since forming in 2000, Wolfmother has risen from strength to strength, winning ARIA and Grammy awards.
The three-piece band has been com- pared to blues and hard rock legends like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, as well as psychedelic rock groups such as Blue Cheer and Queens of the Stone Age.
Listing influences such as The Doors, ACDC and Jimi Hendrix, front man Andrew Stockdale has previously described the band's sound as a mix of the playfulness of Earth Wind and Fire with the intensity of Black Flag.
For tomorrow’s concert, Mr Hickmott said all areas of the hotel would be open including the VIP bar and crowd favourite terrace area.
“Anyone attending the show can expect a night full of classic rock anthems and a little taste of their upcoming album,” he said.
Tickets are on sale for a rock bottom price of $20 each.
“$20 to see one of Australia's biggest bands – [you] can’t go wrong,” Mr Hickmott said.
Doors open at 8pm and the night will kick off with a performance from a support act.
Tickets are available at Ticketmaster or from Magnums Hotel.
