Bri­tain’s best to per­form in Proser­pine

LIVER­POOL's leg­endary group The Searchers will be live on stage per­form­ing their great­est hits at the Proser­pine En­ter­tain­ment Cen­tre, on Tues­day, Fe­bru­ary 18.

From their early begin­nings in the late fifties as a skif­fle group formed by John McNally and a bunch of friends, through the heady days of the six­ties as teenage idols, The Searchers be­came known as a band whose sound has influenced some of the most im­por­tant artists of our gen­er­a­tion.

The Byrds, Tom Petty, Bruce Spring­steen, Mar­shall Cren­shaw and so many oth­ers, hap­pily ac­know- ledge their debt to The Searchers, whose hit songs in­cluded Sweets for my Sweet, Sugar and Spice, Nee­dles and Pins, Love Po­tion Num­ber 9, Don’t Throw Your Love Away, Some­day We’re Gonna Love Again and When You Walk in the Room.

With record sales well in ex­cess of 40 mil­lion, The Searchers have made an enor­mous con­tri­bu­tion to the Bri­tish mu­sic in­dus­try, as well as gain­ing pop­u­lar­ity world­wide.

The Searchers’ Proser­pine per­for­mance is part of their 2014 Great­est Hits En­core Aus­tralian Tour.

The con­cert will run from 810.30pm and tick­ets cost $59.90 for adults and $54.90 for con­ces­sions.
