Swap it Forward event to raise funds
YOUR unwanted clothes, shoes, bags and accessories could help one Whitsunday local in her quest to raise funds for the Cancer Council Queensland.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, Lynette Corne is holding a second annual Swap It Forward charity clothing night on Friday, February 21, at Waterline on Shingley, from 7pm.
Ms Corne said the event offered women the chance to trade in their unwanted clothing and take home something new, all in support of Queenslanders affected by cancer.
“We all have items that we no longer like that sit in our wardrobes taking up space – so now it’s time to have a wardrobe clean out, collect the pieces you no longer use, and bring them along,” she said.
“To someone else, your old item will be a brand new piece of clothing to update their wardrobe and vice versa.”
Between 5 and 10pm on the day prior to the event, participants can bring their unwanted items to Waterline on Shingley, to receive a token for each item swapped. The tokens can then be exchanged at the event for the new items the participants select.
Swap It Forward was launched last year after two members of Ms Corne’s family were diagnosed with cancer. Now that both members have passed away, she hopes to continue holding this event to raise funds for a cancer free future.
Tickets can be pre-purchased for $25 from a number of local outlets including, The Coffee Club, SAKS Hair and Beauty, Reflections Head and Body and Figure Head Hair Salon, or by phoning Lynette Corne on 0410 530 761.
