Club championships to start this weekend
THE first committee meeting for 2014 is on Monday, February 10 at 2pm.
Play will begin on Wednesday, February 19, with the official opening day on Wednesday, March 5. Surrounding clubs, including Airlie Beach, St Helens, Bowen, Collinsville and Wangaratta have been invited to play and Proserpine Bowls members are all asked to bring along a cent sale prize for the day.
It’s time for teams to get organized and nominate for singles, pairs and fours, with nominations closing on Wednesday, March 5. The team for the Racecourse Mill Shield being played at Suburban this weekend includes Lois Read, Nathan Dodds, Michael Kinnear and Joan McGrath; Janet Mortimer, Heather Brown, Wayne Handley and Shane Spann; Heather Patullo, Maree Daffara, Scott Hamilton and Grahame Kinnear.
The greens are looking great after all the rain. A special thanks goes out to those who helped prepare the club grounds for Cyclone Dylan’s impact, and those who came along on Saturday morning to help clean up.
Club competition will begin from this Saturday, at 10am. Club championship singles will play, with Matthew Camm playing Reg Russell, Todd Marshall playing Dale Haack, Jim Quod against Arthur Williams and Scott Kinnear against Shane Kinnear.
The markers will be Martin Corr, Kevin Thorogood, Philip Brown and John Henderson.
The club championship pairs starts on Saturday at 1.30pm with Martin Corr and Shane Kinnear playing Jim Quod and Kevin Thorogood.
