Club cham­pi­onships to start this week­end

PROS­PER­INE BOWLS

THE first com­mit­tee meet­ing for 2014 is on Mon­day, Fe­bru­ary 10 at 2pm.

Play will be­gin on Wed­nes­day, Fe­bru­ary 19, with the of­fi­cial open­ing day on Wed­nes­day, March 5. Sur­round­ing clubs, in­clud­ing Air­lie Beach, St He­lens, Bowen, Collinsville and Wan­garatta have been in­vited to play and Proser­pine Bowls mem­bers are all asked to bring along a cent sale prize for the day.

It’s time for teams to get or­ga­nized and nom­i­nate for sin­gles, pairs and fours, with nom­i­na­tions clos­ing on Wed­nes­day, March 5. The team for the Race­course Mill Shield be­ing played at Sub­ur­ban this week­end in­cludes Lois Read, Nathan Dodds, Michael Kinnear and Joan McGrath; Janet Mor­timer, Heather Brown, Wayne Han­d­ley and Shane Spann; Heather Pat­ullo, Ma­ree Daf­fara, Scott Hamil­ton and Gra­hame Kinnear.

The greens are look­ing great af­ter all the rain. A spe­cial thanks goes out to those who helped pre­pare the club grounds for Cy­clone Dy­lan’s im­pact, and those who came along on Satur­day morn­ing to help clean up.

Club com­pe­ti­tion will be­gin from this Satur­day, at 10am. Club cham­pi­onship sin­gles will play, with Matthew Camm play­ing Reg Rus­sell, Todd Mar­shall play­ing Dale Haack, Jim Quod against Arthur Wil­liams and Scott Kinnear against Shane Kinnear.

The mark­ers will be Martin Corr, Kevin Thoro­good, Philip Brown and John Hen­der­son.

The club cham­pi­onship pairs starts on Satur­day at 1.30pm with Martin Corr and Shane Kinnear play­ing Jim Quod and Kevin Thoro­good.
