Dirt rider re­cov­er­ing from ac­ci­dent

WHIT­SUN­DAY Mo­to­sports club mem­ber Ge­or­gia Mur­ray was dis­charged from the Mackay Base Hos­pi­tal on Mon­day, af­ter som­er­sault­ing off her bike while com­pet­ing in a ju­nior dirt track event at Mid­dle­mount on the week­end.

Ge­or­gia’s mother Nicki Mur­ray said she was try­ing out a two-stroke for the first time when she hit neu­tral while rid­ing on an up-ramp and som­er­saulted over the han­dle bars, knock­ing her­self out for 30 sec­onds. Mur­ray drove her daugh­ter to Mackay Base Hos­pi­tal where she was ad­mit­ted as a trauma pa­tient. “Ge- or­gia’s X-ray, ul­tra­sound and CT scan came back fine and she is now back at home get­ting some rest,” Mur­ray said.

Ge­or­gia thanked the lo­cal com­mu­nity for their sup­port and well­wishes. She is hop­ing to be back in ac­tion this week­end for a ju­nior dirt track event in Townsville.
