Kart meeting a washout
THE wet weather got the better of go-kart drivers from across north Queensland who travelled to compete in the Whitsunday Motosports Club’s first kart race meet of the year.
All drivers hit the track for a few practice laps and heat 1 of the race meet on Sunday, before the event was cancelled due to the wet conditions.
Whitsunday Motosports Club kart vice president Kate Taylor said it was too dangerous for racing to continue.
“The rain started pouring just before midday and we had to cancel the event because there was too much water on the track,” she said.
No results were recorded for the event.
The next karting club race meet will be held at the Whitsunday Raceway on Sunday, March 9.
Gates will open at 7am, with racing to start at 10am.
