Rum race to kick off new cal­en­dar

THE Abel Point Yacht Club’s (APYC) fort­nightly rum races are start­ing up for 2014 next Fri­day, Fe­bru­ary 21.

The club is reach­ing out to the com­mu­nity and invit­ing lo­cal res­i­dents and visi­tors to dis­cover an ex­cit­ing and ad­ven­tur­ous world of sail­ing that is fun, safe and ac­ces­si­ble for ev­ery­one.

For those want­ing to try their hand at sail­ing, the APYC of­fers a re­laxed learn­ing en­vi­ron­ment, with the ad­di­tion of a cruis­ing cal­en­dar for peo­ple want­ing to par­tic­i­pate in an or­gan­ised, fun, so­cial pro­gram.

The new cruis­ing cal­en­dar will in­clude week­end trips to var­i­ous an­chor­ages in the Whit­sun­day is­lands as well as trips to the reef.

The first cruis­ing event of the year will be a trip to Hook Is­land’s Ma­cona In­let held on the week­end of March 15-16. Var­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties are planned to en­sure a fun ex­pe­ri­ence for all.
