Epic weekend for Airlie skaters
FOUR of the Airlie Beach Trashbags made their way to Gladstone at the weekend for a huge roller derby event known as the Epic Scrim.
The event attracted skaters of all levels from all over Queensland to a full two-day roller derby extravaganza.
Skaters played a series of games in mixed teams in a rolling timetable all day long. Some of the skaters had their first experience playing on coed teams.
Seasoned skaters Christine ‘Boss in Boots’ Cleary and Belle ‘BelleFire’ Ryan showed the ropes to new skater Emma ‘B.T.Killam’ Gillam, who made her roller derby debut at the event.
‘Blame Canada’ Knight enjoyed a front row position all weekend long, as an official.
