Burns vic­tim flown to Bris­bane

A BLOOMS­BURY man was air­lifted to the Mackay Base Hospi­tal on Sun­day, Fe­bru­ary 16, af­ter suf­fer­ing ex­ten­sive burns.

At 2:20pm, the RACQCQ Res­cue he­li­copter was tasked to a property, 5km south of Blooms­bury, where the 44-year-old man had burns to 18 per cent of his body af­ter a petrol can ex­ploded.

The man was sta­bilised and trans­ferred to hospi­tal ar­riv­ing just be­fore 4pm.

A Queens­land Health spokes­woman said he was flown to the Royal Bris­bane Hospi­tal for treat­ment in a specialist burns unit on Mon­day.

He was re­port­edly in a sta­ble con­di­tion at this time.
