Drink-driver crashes into cars in car park
AT 2PM last Wednesday, police were called to a traffic crash within the Whitsunday Shopping Centre car park.
On arrival, they found a 57-year-old local woman who had run into two other parked cars.
The woman was breathalysed and returned a reading of 0.17 per cent, which is more than three times over the legal limit.
She was charged with a high range drink-driving offence and is expected to appear in the Proserpine Magistrate’s Court at a later date.
The accident happened during a fire drill at the shopping centre and was therefore witnessed by a large number of shoppers and staff.
