SWIMMING

A GROUP of 24 swimmers from Cannonvale Cannons travelled to Townsville last weekend to attend the Townsville tourist meet at the Tobruk Memorial Pool.

Despite the tough conditions the swimmers achieved well in all disciplines.

Hannah Crittenden got her A grade upgrade for 50 backstroke and Piper O'Grady showed good form in her breaststroke.

Ali Romanella, aged eight, swam her first 100 and 200m races at a swim meet and Sarah Milne powered through the water in the relays.

Five-year-old Nathan Lee took a massive 25 seconds off his 25m freestyle and was in his first 50m swim in the relay.

Cannons came home with many medals, placings and personal bests.

The swimmers are now preparing for the North Queensland championships to be held at Long Tan Pool in Townsville on the March 1-2.
