Bumper season ahead for touch
TOUCH football is in full swing and this year they have had to add an extra timeslot to accommodate new teams.
The new time slots starting at 6pm due to new teams in the competition and there are positions available for one more team in each grade.
Anyone interested should contact the Whitsunday Touch Facebook page or call 0404 498 790.
With the topdressing of the bottom field in December teams are playing on the AFL field and in order to get back down the bottom as soon as possible they are having a weeding bee on Thursday night at 6pm.
Grass is growing well but is being restricted in certain patches by tufty grasses which they are looking to eradicate.
All members of the touch, rugby and soccer clubs are encouraged to turn up with gloves and a weeding tool to get the field up to standard.
Rugby players are keen to get the field payable for a trial game on March 1, WFC have put their March games to Mackay and all sports are training on the top oval so there are several reasons to get the bottom field ready.
HELPING OUT: Whitsunday Touch Association representative Bernard Woods with Frances Stannard from RPS Surveyors who donated time to mark out a touch field on the top oval at the Whitsunday Sports Park on Monday.
