Aiming to stop traffic crashes
PROSERPINE Police will be undertaking a road safety operation from this Saturday March 1, with the aim of preventing injury traffic crashes within the Proserpine division.
The division covers a large area from Greta Creek to the north and Bloomsbury in the south and includes the communities of Conway Beach, Hydeaway Bay, Dingo Beach and Midge Point as well as those in between.
The operation named Operation bark.
Officer in Charge of the Proserpine Station Sergeant Nathan Blain said police would be actively targeting the fatal five of speeding, drink driving, fatigue and seatbelt and distraction offences, with a particular emphasis on drivers using handheld mobile phones.
Sgt Blain also said police would be patrolling in both uniform and plain clothes and he urged all road users to take care, obey the road rules and drive to prevailing conditions. will be Stringy-
