Reach your fitness goals at Whitsunday PCYC
THE Whitsunday PCYC has a fully equipped gym to suit the fitness goals of new starters, pensioners or experienced gym junkies at an affordable price.
The gym has a range of cardio equipment including treadmills, spin bikes and rowing machines, strength building apparatus and weightlifting equipment in a comfortable, air-conditioned setting.
Whitsunday PCYC branch manager Sergeant John Dickinson said there was enough equipment to give people of all fitness levels a reasonable workout.
“We originally setup the gym for low income earners and pensioners who couldn’t afford the price of other gyms but wanted to have access to a facility to improve their general fitness and well-being,” he said.
“The gym is ideal for people who may be self-conscious about going to the gym or who don’t want to be surrounded by large crowds when working out.”
Sergeant Dickinson said the PCYC was currently seeking out grant funding to upgrade the cardio equipment in the gym. “The PCYC is all about giving people healthy choices and there are a number of group classes available for members to enhance their workout,” he said.
Pilates classes are held every Wednesday and Friday, a women’s circuit class is held every Monday and Yoga is available every Tuesday.
There is also an exclusive Heart Moves program every Tuesday and Thursday and an over 50’s social and exercise group session held every Wednesday.
A 12 month Whitsunday PCYC membership for adults is $30 and pensioners $6, with access to the gym costing $40 per month.
Casual gym memberships are available for $7 for current PCYC members and $10 for non-members. All PCYC memberships are fully transferable and valid at any of the 55 PCYC locations throughout Queensland.
