11 charged with drug offences
ELEVEN people have been charged with drug-related offences in the past week as a result of a police operation in the Proserpine division.
Operation Atakar, specifically targeting drug offences, was an initiative of Proserpine Police, who executed a number of search warrants resulting in 11 people being charged with 15 drug-related offences.
Officer in Charge of the Proserpine Station, Sergeant Nathan Blain, said the operation was conducted as result of confidential information supplied to police by concerned community members about drug activities in the community.
Sgt Blain said drug users and suppliers in the area should take notice of this as police would continue to actively target drug-related offences.
He said anyone with information on drug supply or use in the community could contact Crime Stoppers or their local police.
Sgt Blain said information was treated confidentially and he also urged anyone with a drug use problem to seek medical help for their addiction.
The people charged as a result of last week’s operation will appear in the Proserpine Magistrate’s Court at a later date.
