Mango mania puts Bowen on the map
BOWEN’s Big Mango is settling back into its usual home after the fast food company Nando’s ‘borrowed’ it for a publicity stunt.
Last Friday, Nando’s revealed the well publicised heist was just part of a campaign to launch a new flavour of ‘ zesty’ mango and lime.
Bowen Tourism chairman Paul McLaughlin said the recent mango mania was just the beginning of the story for the town.
Mr McLaughlin described the stunt as "marvellous" and said it helped put a struggling community "onto the map".
"We have had worldwide news and it's really helped people know where we are," he said.
“We are expecting some tourism dollars in publicity and we would like to see an increase in visitors to the Whitsunday region in general."
