Visitor centre ready to host afternoon tea

Whitsunday Times - - COMMUNITY NEWS -

WHITSUNDAY residents are invited to an afternoon tea at the Whitsunday Region Information Centre (WRIC) on the Bruce Highway in Proserpine at 3.30pm next Thursday, March 13.

The centre reopened its doors in November last year and provides those travelling to or through the Whitsunday region with advice and helpful information on where to go and what to see and do.

Whitsundays Marketing and Development Limited (WMDL) chief executive officer Danial Rochford said the afternoon tea was a great opportunity for residents to learn more about the information centre and the volunteer ambassador program.

Volunteer ambassador Tony Dunn, said he enjoyed meeting visitors from all around the world that came to the centre to learn more about the Whitsundays.

“You meet lovely people that appreciate the fact that they can meet a true local face to face, to get information first-hand,” he said.

“I know that when visitors leave they are happy and ready to explore what our region has to offer.”

For more information about the program or to speak to a volunteer, phone 4945 3967.
