Karts in action for round two of club champs
THE karting contingent of the Whitsunday Moto Sports Club (WMSC) will be hosting round two of the club championships at the Whitsunday Raceway this weekend.
The two-day event attracts some of the very best kart drivers from Rockhampton to Townsville, with beginners right up to the very best veterans of the sport chasing a podium finish.
WMSC president Adam Stroud said round one of the championships was cancelled as a result of wet weather last month.
“All drivers are really looking forward to getting back on the track and it should be a great day of racing,” he said.
All drivers are welcome to test their skills on the custom built racing track during a practice session on Saturday from 12-4pm.
Gates will open at 7am with racing to kick off at 10am on Sunday, and results will be recorded across all classes.
The canteen will be open and spectators are encouraged to make the most of trackside seating to catch a glimpse of all the fast-paced karting action.
All spectators are welcome to meet and greet with the kart drivers on the day but must wear covered shoes to enter the pit area. “New members are always welcome at our club events and it’s a great opportunity for them to meet other drivers and learn more about the sport,” Stroud said.
The Whitsunday Moto Sports Club will be hosting the Shakedown Great Barrier Reef Titles at the raceway from June 7-8.
